Abstract: it has been for long time deemed to be the sexiest new role in enterprises, leading change and innovation with the "new oil", Data. However this complex and ever changing role is not a mission for the faint-hearted. During this lecture Roberto Maranca, will dive into the complexity, the technicalities and, surprisingly, the philosophical and political aspects, that made such a journey a career-changing experience, and in some cases not for the best. The talk will demonstrate the usage of data maturity models (e.g. DCAMTM) to charter the path toward Data Excellence and explore the future of achieving value from data with Enterprise Digital Twins.

Short bio: With almost 30 years of experience in the world of IT and Data, Roberto started his career with blue chips like Nissan and Ford, to then join General Electric Capital where he spent most of his working life and where, since 2014, as the first Chief Data Officer for their International Division he was in charge of setting up Data Governance, Data Quality and Advanced Analytics, spanning from supporting risk model validation to enabling M&A activities and leading regulatory reporting initiatives. Subsequently as Group Chief Data Officer at Lloyds Banking Group, he reshaped their Data Strategy, setting up their Metadata capability and dividing his time between the BCBS 239 and GDPR programs. Finally, in 2018 he joined Schneider Electric as Data Excellence VP delving into the cultural and methodological aspects of becoming a data driven company. In the last few years, he set up foundational Data Excellence capabilities like Metadata, Data Quality, Data Retention and Data Protection Management. Roberto has got a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from “Federico II” Naples University, Italy.
